V&M Introduces Sodium Bicarbonate and Activated Carbon Grinding & Injection System for Advanced Flue Gas Treatment

V&M (USA/Taiwan) Sustainable Science Technology Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of its Sodium Bicarbonate and Activated Carbon Grinding & Injection System, a modular air pollution control solution designed for waste incinerators, hazardous waste treatment facilities, glass furnaces, cement kilns, and other high-temperature industrial processes. The system combines sodium bicarbonate micronization, precision dosing, pneumatic conveying, and powdered activated carbon injection to help operators control acid gases, dioxins, furans, mercury, and particulate-related pollutants within a compact dry flue gas treatment platform.

The new V&M system is built around the principle that finely ground sodium bicarbonate delivers faster and more efficient neutralization of acid gases in dry sorbent injection applications.Industry references show that sodium bicarbonate is widely used to remove HCl, HF, SO2, and other acidic components from industrial exhaust streams, and that grinding the reagent to the appropriate particle size significantly improves surface area and gas-solid reaction kinetics.By integrating storage, metered feeding, milling, and injection into one engineered package, V&M aims to provide customers with a practical upgrade path for meeting stricter emission limits without the complexity of large wet scrubber systems.

To address trace pollutants, V&M’s platform also incorporates a dedicated powdered activated carbon injection module that can operate in parallel with the sodium bicarbonate line.Activated carbon is widely applied upstream of baghouses to capture dioxins, furans, and gaseous heavy metals such as mercury, while the downstream particulate control device collects the reacted sorbents and contaminants from the gas stream.Recent engineering examples in the market show that PAC dosing can be effectively integrated with sodium bicarbonate DSI layouts, allowing low-rate, high-precision injection with minimal added footprint.

According to V&M, the system has been designed for both new-build installations and retrofit projects where plant owners need higher removal efficiency, lower reagent consumption, and easier integration with existing baghouses, dry reactors, or denitrification units.Typical DSI configurations include bulk storage, gravimetric or volumetric feeding, pneumatic conveying, optional milling, injection lances, and PLC/HMI-based control interfaces that can be linked to a plant DCS for real-time emissions management. This modularity allows facilities to optimize reagent usage according to flue gas temperature, pollutant loading, and downstream collection performance.

“Industrial operators are under growing pressure to reduce acid gases and micro-pollutants while keeping systems simple, reliable, and cost-effective,” said V&M. “Our Sodium Bicarbonate and Activated Carbon Grinding & Injection System is designed to give customers a flexible dry treatment platform that supports both environmental compliance and operational efficiency.” This market need is reflected in technical and commercial literature showing that dry sorbent injection remains an attractive solution because it offers relatively low capital cost, simplified installation, and straightforward maintenance compared with more complex wet treatment alternatives.

V&M said the system is especially suited for facilities seeking integrated control of HCl, HF, SOx, dioxins, furans, mercury, and dust within a broader multi-pollutant treatment train. The company also expects strong demand from facilities upgrading aging emission control assets, particularly in sectors where water use, site footprint, and downtime for retrofit work are critical considerations. With air quality regulations continuing to tighten worldwide, V&M believes dry reagent grinding and injection technologies will play an increasingly important role in next-generation flue gas cleaning projects.
